Code of Ethics

As members of the International Association of Reiki Practitioners (IARP), the American Sociological Association (ASA), and other professional certifications and training, we strictly adhere to the codes of ethics in in our work. We follow all the ethics guidelines from the following sites; You may choose to review more complete codes of ethics from the IARP, Animal Reiki, and the ASA by following the associated links. We adhere strictly to codes requiring:

  1. Consent to be treated. We do not provide services for people under the age of 18 and/or someone who has not given their express permission for the service. Adhering to this ethical code is especially important for Animal Reiki because animals cannot give a verbal consent like humans do.

  2. Confidentiality of information discussed in session. We treat anything you disclose with the utmost care and compassion, and follow similar patient privacy ethics as your primary care doctor would.

  3. Respect for people’s rights, dignity, and diversity, and remaining impartial and non-judgmental as possible. While we will educate clients on the value of energy work, we are respectful of the client’s or student’s views on Reiki, Akashic Records, Tarot, and other energy healing modalities with respect to their own spiritual journey.

  4. We cannot and will not diagnose or prescribe medicine, nor interfere with a treatment by a licensed health care provider. Energy sessions do not guarantee a cure, nor are they a substitute for qualified medical or professional care. Services are one part of an integrative healing or wellness program that the client follows.

  5. Respect the client’s boundary needs at that time. If, during a Reiki session or hands-on energy work, touch is not or no longer requested, permission for touch can be revoked at any time during the session.

  6. A social responsibility for the community by acting professionally and appropriately;

  7. Empowering clients to co-create their healing processes. We set a pure and clear intention to offer our services for the highest healing good of the client, so that over time they are able to sustain their own healing practices and spiritual growth.

  8. Work in partnership with the animal or human client for their healing journey. With regards to the animal client, we respect a client’s right to choose the animal’s healing journey with the support and advice of a trusted veterinarian.

  9. We will provide the services as requested to the best of our abilities. Payment is due at time of appointment booking, and subject to the Cancellation/Postponement policy. When booking an appointment, the client agrees to adhere to these policies and code of ethics. Any disrespectful, harassing, illegal behavior by the client, as defined by us and our code of ethics, will not be tolerated and the appointment ended with no refunds.

Cancellation and Postponement Policies

I ask that clients treat me as the professional I am, and respect my time and energy. However, things can and do happen to us. The following policies govern some common appointment issues.

Cancellations: Clients must give 24 hours’ notice for cancellations to avoid at $25 cancellation fee.

No-Shows: No-Shows are also subjected to the full cost of the original appointment rate, and no refunds will be provided.

Late Arrivals and/or Early Departures: We will do our best to accommodate late-arrivals or early-departures for a session, however, the service will be paid at the original appointment rate and not subject to any discounts. If the clients’ arrival is too late or early departure will not allow for services to be adequately performed, then the session will be treated as a late cancellation and subjected to the $25 cancellation fee.

Abrupt Stop: At any time during a session clients can request to stop session, though this may not entitle them to a refund.

Lack of Consent for Animals: We respect the animal’s privacy and decision to accept or refuse any treatment since animals cannot verbally consent to treatments. Throughout the session, the practitioner observes animals intuitively and through body language to determine acceptance of Reiki sharing. Leaving the area is not always indicative of rejection, so the practitioner relies on trained expertise and discussion with the human client to determine if a behavior is an acceptance or rejection of Reiki sharing. If the practitioner determines that the animal does not want treatment that day, the client can postpone treatment one time and reschedule another day that is mutually agreeable.
